Considering where to travel next? Check out some of my top recommendations for your next trip!
Asia
Asia took me completely by surprise, in the best way possible! I was truly so nervous to travel to Asia for the first time completely solo, but I was blown away by the kindness, culture, and beauty that this continent held in store! Easily one of my top travel recommendations now, I was able to visit Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand on a three-week trip. I spent the most time in Malaysia, as I was presenting at a conference at the time but still got to explore Singapore for a few days and bounce around various regions in Thailand for over a week. There is such diversity in culture, experiences, and perspectives in Asia that pushed me outside my comfort zone in the best ways imaginable. I could not recommend Asia more!
The Caribbean
The Caribbean is simply a dream. Unlike many of my European excursions and solo travel that are full of adventure, the Caribbean is a different pace. Relax on the pristine white sand beaches or engage in adventures straight out the Pirates of Caribbean! I was fortunate enough to travel to the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Jamaica on various relaxing holidays with family. The Caribbean is as romantic as it is serene and would highly recommend it for all travelers!
Central America
Central America holds a special place in my heart given my background studying Spanish Language and Literature. Countries within this region are oftentimes frequently traveled to by Americans given our geographical proximity. It is a quick flight to escape the cold winter months of Colorado and Oregon to a tropical paradise. Aside from being an incredibly beautiful region, Central America is also rich in history and culture.
Europe
Europe is truly extraordinary, and I have quite a bit of time over the years traveling different regions of the continent. I spent three months living in Spain during study abroad which was unfortunately cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. What a crazy time! Since then, I have spent various summers galivanting the region with friends and solo traveling. Out of the 26 countries I have been to, 18 of them were in Europe. Ironically, the smallest country in the world — the Vatican City — resides within Italy’s borders and is the 18th country on my growing list! There are still so many more countries I wish to visit, specifically the Scandinavian regions and northeastern Europe.
North America
Having grown up in the United States, I have a little bit of bias about the wonders that are offered within North America. Consisting of the United States and Canada (and arguably Greenland), this region of the world offers a wide diversity of adventures and landscapes. My personal favorite is Colorado (guilty), and I have 24 years of experience to back up my claim. Enjoy the wide variety of opportunities here in North America!
South America
There is endless adventure and history to be explored in South America. Some of the highlights are Machu Picchu, Cusco, and countless others. I’ve visited Peru and I have plans in the future to visit several countries within this continent. I traveled with International Volunteers HQ to Peru and saved hundreds of dollars and got experience teaching English to adults! I really enjoyed this volunteer program and felt very supported.
